America's Next Top Model Recap: Alicia Keys & the Elimination Shocker!

ANTM Cycle 19 episodes 5:
Alicia Keys
By Dancer

Back at the house after judging and there is standard drama about the Tyra Suite. Blah, blah, blah.

Next morning while everyone is lazily sleeping in Tyra brings in Alicia Keys. The girls freak and one sings for Alicia which I can only imagine happens to her a lot. Tyra introduces Alicia not just as a famous singer but as a philanthropist for her foundation Keep a Child Alive. The girls will be doing a charity fashion show for Ms Keys.

Alicia Keys becomes the center of attention in the room and Tyra puts on a brave front through gritted teeth as she dies a little inside.

Tyra puts the girls on the spot to do an impromptu runway on the rainbow runway in the house. The girls will be portraying themes of Alicia’s songs. There were some okay walkers but as usual there were some cray-cray walkers. But the bomb that was dropped was they were in charge of the entire event – hair, makeup, styling, etc. The winner from last judging is the ‘president’ of this supposed sorority house so she’s in charge of assigning all the tasks (we’ll call her Blondie) – she’s afraid and she should be! During the show the outfits that each girl is wearing will be bid on for fundraising. And Girl on Fire is the theme of the show.

When they arrive Kelly and Johnny are at the event to rake the girl in charge over the coals…. Guess that’s what they meant by ‘girl on fire’. Blondie didn’t have a clue, she didn’t create any teams or give any directions on who would do what. Kelly asked if she knew what continuity was and the answer was a blank face.

The girls were incredibly lucky that Kelly and Johnny were there because those girls didn’t know what they hell they were doing. Eventually Blondie stepped up and yelled out a couple orders, but the TV audience isn’t fooled for a second by the wonders of editing.

The runway show itself was pretty much okay, no disasters, falls or anything remotely entertaining. The winning outfit was a worthy win that girl looked great. That winner girl then got to pick a girl to go to an Alicia Keys show and $ is put into the college fund bank account (which if I haven’t mentioned is only real money for the final girl who wins the competition).

As expected there is drama back at the house… nothing is quite interesting enough to mention but as we weed out the dreck there will be time to talk about the drama then.

"I keep on falling...."

For the photo shoot day, they arrive at a college football field and Jonte’, from the club a few shows back, is the chorographer and Sara Silver is their photographer. They are going to be ‘cheerleading models’ wow, what a stretch… Rob Evans turns up to watch the girls get tossed into the air by some hunky shirtless dudes (some producer has clearly been watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race….). Blondie from the challenge is afraid of heights, of course. At the end Bryanboy turned up to bring the fear, reminding them of the social media scores.

During the judging there was a lot of discontent with the judges on their opinions of the girls. There was more time due to less girls for more input via Bryanboy’s social media, about half of the girls had an online video to watch.

I’m still not a fan of the scoring as a whole, but I do like that the judges tell each girl their score of the photo they took. It’s the most direct clear feedback I’ve seen in all these years during ANTM judging. They know whether they got three 9’s or three 4’s right then and there, it’s pretty direct.

Gather round skinny bitches. Time for one of you to join the room of the damned!

The two final girls were definitely the two weakest photos; both girls have that in person potential but were flat in the photos this time. It came down to a half a point between the two girls. The girl that was voted out was considered a favorite to go all the way among the judges and the girls – seriously; Bryanboy shed a tear over her leaving!

To wrap up, I watched the online video of the previously voted out girls and from what I saw the girls have Bryanboy as the guide/stylist during the photo shoot. The cheerleading shots were okay but to me no one stood out.

"gasp!"
The shocker was when the voted out girl walked in to the room with the other three they were completely SHOCKED! These little 3-minute videos may become more interesting to watch. While I have no idea when they will bring in the ‘comeback’ girl but as more girls are voted out the competition will get harder on both sides of the game.

Cheers,
