San Diego Epic Big Bay Boom Goes Bust With Fireworks Fail

San Diego usually makes the news for it's pristine beaches and healthy citizens. Last night, however, America's Finest City made news for a different reason: our nationally renowned fireworks show busted. As in, the entire 20 minute show lasted all of 30 seconds. (Quite similarly the length of time most expected Channing Tatum's acting career to last...who knew? Magic Mike, that's who.)

As you can imagine, it's all over the news today, from USA Today to Entertainment Weekly chiming in:

"Fourth of July spectators in San Diego were either incredibly disappointed or overjoyed when the annual Big Bay Boom extravaganza began and ended early after a technical malfunction caused all the pyrotechnics to ignite all at once. The 18-minute show began five minutes before schedule and lasted about 15 seconds. Despite the show’s brevity, the massive ball of apocalyptic-looking explosions was breathtaking in their own right."

Watch the video is after the jump!

Talk about blowing your load early! In a nutshell, ALL of the fireworks went off at once. Which was kind of cool, in a 1950s-era bomb testing out in the desert sort of way.

Congrats, San Diego, you either just automatically made it onto every Top 10 Moments of 2012 news segment, or gave Trey Stone and Matt Parker fodder for the next South Park ep.

Tea With Lemon was on the scene live last night, and overheard the San Diego Fireworks' girlfriend consoling her man: "It's okay, honey, it happens to everyone."
